History
A 3 year old boy presents with mental delay. He is described as having poor sensory integration, poor gait, and muscle tone, and inflammation of spinal cord. Parents state that he has "supressed immunity." It was pointed out that his Dad was part of Operation Desert Storm and has what was diagnosed as "Single Sclerosis".
Description of Results
(After adjustment for low creatinine)
CAC intermediates are elevated including HMG indicative of CoQ10 deficiency for sufficient ATP production.
There is a strong indication of biotin deficiency and low folate as indicated by severly elevated bHiVal and FIGLU respectively.
The values for HVA and 5-HIA are both more than triple the upper limit, which would support evaluating amino acid neurotransmitter precursers to assure adequate supply for such heavy utilization.
Profound glutathione wasting as seen by the high pyroglutamate.
6 elevated bacterial markers in addition to DHPP.
Recommendations
A good place to start would be to correct the floral imbalance in the gut. Anti microbial agents like Oregon grape and oregano oil can be found in liquid forms. Other effective products are caprylic acid and Saccharomyces boulardii to target the clostridial overgrowth. At the same time reinoculation with probiotics is imperative to restore bacterail balance.
Supplement with CoQ10 and B complex to remedy cellular energy production blocks. Liquid or chewable CoQ10 is available to accomodate such a young child.
, AntiMic, S. boulardii, Probx, B-Comp,
Other Comments
Family suspects symptoms have to do with immunizations. Other testing indicated trace amounts of Pb and Hg. uOA indicates functional CoQ10 and folate insufficiency, w/ severe bacterial dysbiosis
